I actually do and I also know the person who discovered it, Cristi Lascu. He led National Geographic Romania for the time they had an office here.

Nicole Farquhar

Just a fun fact, after the initial discovery, they have establish that it was a closed environment after they didn't find any radioactie izotopes which were present everywhere after the Chernobyl accident.

Clara Jo

Much like some other parts of Romania

Jody Fick

"No discernible food source" is incorrect. The food chain is based on chemosynthesis in the form of methane- and sulfur-oxidizing bacteria, which in turn release nutrients for fungi and other bacteria.

You mean like The Descent? If you haven't seen it, watch the Director's Cut (or UK release), not the American version. Thank me later.

I wonder how all those species made it from the Ark to that particular cave?

Mary Wanjiku

Shouldn't the air there and the air when the cave got unearthed mix immediately? So how did they know it was at 10%? Serious question

Ginger Bugielski

This gives me hope because even if we screw up everything there will be a lush, thriving Earth riddled with extraordinary creatures we can scarcely imagine. And it takes only a couple of million years to evolve. Such a relief. And I'm not even kidding. Remember: the dinosaurs had to go almost completely extinct for us to become possible...

You think one day they will discover our planet and say how much a miracle it was to survive while only 21% of the air is oxygen

Krystal Mincher

True

David Phillips

So of all 48 species none use each other for food?

Odunola Oladunni-Afolabi

No discernible food source, but 48 species live there? Maybe, just maybe the food source IS the 48 species

Linda Poodledog Taylor

Like gypsies isolated from the rest of us

Elizabeth Swindlehurst - Perry

Maybe it should remain closed

Aubrey Bettie

Rich old mainland chinese idiots: *Heavy breathing* For fucks sake, close it up again, or they are going to rub those species all over their tiny dicks.

John Priest

Is this from where the gypsies come out

Anmol Khan

Life, uh, finds a way.
