Chuẩn bị một chiếc chảo rộng, đáy dày. Cho sợi dừa cùng sữa tươi vào chảo rồi đặt chảo lên bếp, đun ở mức lửa nhỏ. Cứ khoảng 15-20 phút thì dùng đũa đảo đều sợi dừa một lần nha. Khi dừa khô lại, bạn cho chút bột vani (nếu thích) vào xóc đều rồi tắt bếp đi.
Đợi cho đến khi dừa nguội hẳn thì đổ ra mâm hoặc đĩa lớn, tiến hành dàn đều và để mứt ở nơi khô ráo, thoáng mát 1 ngày. Sau đó, có thể đóng mứt dừa vào trong túi hoặc lọ để cất đi dùng dần.
